RTM Promotion Bokkle pon Bokkle party christmas 2011 featured Mighty Crown sound System from Japan One of the top sound system in the dancehall and reggae music clash world Mighty Crown has decided to placea pause on clashing. One of the co-founding selector Masta Simon says they are done with clashing . At least, for now.
In a press release he said "We have been clashing for a while. We have been clashing for like 11, 12, 13
years," Simon said about the sound which has been dubbed the Far East Rulers that was introduced to the
Jamaican audience mainly through their participation in the Death Before Dishonour sound clash.
One of their first major victories was at World Clash 1999 in New York, where they beat Kilamanjaro in the
final face-off. Among their many triumphs since then have been back-to-back Death Before Dishonour trophies
in 2007 and 2008 and they were involved in last year's 'Final Warr', won by Black Kat over Sentinel.
In their war years, Simon said, "All we thought about was clashing." Now, he says, "The mission is music".
"You have some sound that keep clashing and we respect that," Simon said. For Mighty Crown, though, at this
time "we want to spread reggae through other ways. In the future, we want to go to different places and show
them the authenticity. The different places where I go, like Europe, they say the dancehall today don't sound
like reggae. I can understand why they say this. It is a cycle."
Simon makes it clear, though, that Mighty Crown has not dispensed with its katana mode entirely, where its
standout international artiste dub plates are renowned. "It is not like we quit clash or anything. When the
time come, but right now we on a different mission," Simon said.
In this the sound system's 20th anniversary year, that mission has taken them to all the major cities on
their home turf Japan, across the USA and Bermuda, among other countries. "We no really touch Europe so far
