Jushichigen-No-Umare(the birth of the bass koto) について・・・
this is a duet between kotoist makiko goto and her japaneese songbird. it was recorded by marian smit in the studio of madame goto which was at that time located in eindhoven, holland. it was part of audio material we were gathering and escavating for a multimedia performance piece of mz. smits inception on which we collaborated called "within and beyond restraint". it was a piece that featured both live and recorded music and video strattas and streams performed for several weeks at a theater there in den haag. the poem is sort of a phonetic constructionist configuration
weilded of restructred, prexisting segments like the concept in an bemused improvisers mind i imagine spontaneous recalibration of possible prismatic extention into dancing images luminant in the fissuric cavity of fractured shadows eclipsed against the conjuctions of the night...about the composition
in the words of makiko goto:
"The music/composition, Jûshichigen-No-Umare (birth of the bass koto), what you used is one of the best my repertoire by the Japanese composer/Makoto Shinohara. I occasionally play in the concert, also recorded by the German radio station.
I am sure Mr. Shinohara would like your work with it.What I always have mind about you is I appreciate your approach
to the koto music and instrument with me. The traditional repertoire is the most value for the koto instrument..."
